FHS Receives Sportsmanship Award
Fairview Park, OH
- Fairview Park High School won the Harold A. Meyer Sportsmanship, Ethics and
Integrity Award from the Ohio High School Athletic Association for
2007.
The award honors the late Harold A. Meyer, commissioner of the
OHSAA from 1969 to 1977. Winners of the Meyer Award receive a banner to display
their achievement on campus.
"Sportsmanship is a given," said Fairview
Park Schools Athletic Director Kevin Liptrap. "We changed the direction of
athletics in Fairview by pursuing victory with honor and representing the school
in a first class manner on and off the field."
The award may be won by any OHSAA member school that meets the
specific requirements. Awards are presented to schools
that demonstrate they have completed an eight-part program that promotes
sportsmanship, ethics and integrity in their schools and communities.

FHS Senior Named All State Football Ralph Bradberry
Ralph Bradberry considers himself a normal high school senior. He goes
to school and plays sports for Fairview Park High School [FHS].
However,
this 2007 All State Football player juggles not only school, homework,
football or basketball schedules, but he is working at a local sandwich
shop some 15 to 25 hours a week.
"Up until this past Saturday,
I could not remember a day that went by where I did not have either
work, school or a game," said Bradberry. "I love to play video games
when I have the time, and that is what I did on my day off."
At the beginning of the 2007-08 school year, Bradberry decided for
himself that he would transfer from John Marshall High School in Cleveland to
Fairview Park High School. Due to family circumstances, Bradberry, 19,
lives on his own.
Bradberry
played tight end and defensive end for FHS football, and was named 2007
All State Football and first-team West Shore Conference this year. In
basketball, Bradberry plays forward and center. Last year he received
first-team Senate Athletic League honors in football and basketball.
