Technology Toolbox

Teaching tools for FPCS instructional employees include:

* Microsoft Office Suite 2008 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) learn more

* iLife Suite 2008 includes digitally-creative programs like iTunes, iPhoto, iChat, Photo Booth, iMovie, iDVD, iWeb and GarageBand. learn more

* Fairview e-mail/IMAP mail client, which will allow staff to access their e-mail anywhere.

* Learning.fairview.k12oh.us (Podcast Server, Weblog and Wiki): A place to integrate all three resources for students and staff to use, which can be accessed on the district Web site www.fairviewparkschools.org on the schools' page.

*Podcast Server hosts a series of digital-media files, which are distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media players.
Weblog is a free blog service which allows the creation of an easy and highly customizable hosting platform.
Wiki is a piece of server software that allows users to freely create and edit Web page content using any Web browser.

* SOIN (Schools on I Net): Lesson planning, assignments, grade book and parent communication tool.

* NetTrekker: The number one rated educational search engine includes: grade-level tabs, readability support, text-to-speech, dictionary and translation hotkeys, image search, timelines and the ability to save searches and collaborate with colleagues.

* Safari Montage: Video on Demand (VOD) solution for school districts that comes preloaded with the finest educational video titles available. There are over 3,800 titles for pre-kindergarten through high school. District digital media is stored on a central server for employees to have the ability to upload and manage easily.

* Quicker, provided by Polaris Career Center, a content management system to replace existing SOARWEB (State of Ohio Alliance Resource Web) and RWLO (Real World Learning Objects) sites.

* Video Distance Learning: Membership to LCDLC (Lorain County Distance Learning Consortium). Video conferencing units are at each campus.

* Smart Boards (interactive whiteboard) at the middle school and high school and Elmos (document cameras) at Gilles-Sweet.

Fairview Park City Schools provides technology training and support for instructional staff.
