Administrator will begin July 8, 2008.
"We are
looking forward to having Jeffery Hicks as a part of our FPCS team," said

goals that this district has set out to achieve higher quality education."

Tutor at the Lucas
County Education
Service Center
in 1998. He then went on to serve as a teacher at the Ottawa Hills
Elementary School from
1999 until present.
"Only by
working with community members can education truly be successful, as the
schools culture is a product of the community in which it exists," said Hicks.
"I will uphold the high standards and tradition that are the Fairview Park City
Schools."

Bus Parking
The buses have been moved to the old the BOE offices on Lorain Road. This will provide the summer daycare
students at the Early Education Learning Center more playground space.
Staffing
Nora Walsh, Special Education Counselor, will help facilitate the needs of
our kids, monitor costly services to insure the best means of action.
All the food preparation at the Early Education Learning Center will be done in house instead of using a caterer.
This will be cheaper and the district will be reimbursed by the state of Ohio. Sue Kandah will
become one of the district's food service employees. She will do all the prep work at Gilles-Sweet Elementary, which will be transported to the Early Education Learning Center.
Summer Work Plans Gilles-Sweet Elementary
- July 14 will be the "11 month" walk through for all the warranty type work
that needs to be addressed by the contractors.
- We are looking into putting in a surface that will allow us to have children
dropped off on Alexander without having to climb over snow piles in the winter.
High School/Middle School -In the MS, the gym floor will be sanded and painted. It will also
have the athletic logo on it.
-There will be painting done in as many rooms as possible, we are working on a
rotation plan that will hopefully get a large amount of rooms done each summer.
-There will be floor work done in the buildings, which have not been stripped for over five years.
Early Education Learning Center
-The gym floor is currently being redone, and will have
the "shield" logo in the middle of the floor.
-The biggest challenge will be to get all of the old furniture out of the
second floor classrooms so painting and cleaning can begin in those rooms
for future use.
Programming/Curriculum
-Expansion of the Everyday Math program to the fifth grade
-Introduction of Anatomy/Physiology along with the revamping of the Earth
Science course(s).
-New texts will be in for the fall.
-The Apple computer order is scheduled to arrive the first of July. There will
be some additional in-service for staff offered in August, in addition to what
we will receive from Apple.
Early Learning
Center
FPCS will possibly be investing in a piece of software that will provide the district with a means of accurately and timely billing. With this software,
parents will be able to pay online.
From a security standpoint, parents will have to punch
in a personal PIN to unlock the end door and enter the building. All of these
things will be introduced to parents in July for a September 2 start date.
